…because i said yes to opportunity

fear can prevent you from a lot of things.

like moving to a new place, starting a new job, or leaving behind the old in search for the new.  when i think about it, i’m always a little scared to work towards becoming successful, if that makes any sense.  maybe its scary to work so hard with the ever present possibility of failure.

but i firmly believe that finding out what doesn’t work can only lead you closer to what does.

what would you do if you could do anything?

and why aren’t you doing something about it?

but before you answer, seriously think about the question.  who is it that you want to be?  what kind of impact do you want to leave on the world?  and do you truly want to get there?

to me, goals are incredibly important.  long-term, short-term, weekly, daily, hourly.  whatever it is that you can do right this second, to put you in the best place for the next moment.  ever since i was a senior in high school, i knew what i wanted my purpose in life to be.  the road to getting there is nothing like i could have ever possibly imagined.  but along the way, i have learned that it doesn’t matter how you get there exactly, so long as you get there.  for the last six years i have kept that goal in mind, and on a daily basis, i have become closer to accomplishing it.

you see, sometimes, the journey is in the struggle.   and fear is a good excuse that can come out in many forms. whether it be fear or anxiety of how hard it could be (financially, emotionally, physically) or how unlikely the possibility of success, the reality is that fear is giving you an excuse to not try.

today was meaningful because i said yes.  without going into all of the details about the opportunities, just know that i said yes.  opportunity can come in many shapes and sizes, but what’s important is that you rise to the challenge.  despite the financial difficulties and my fear of being incompetent in these endeavors, i decided to let these things work themselves out.  yes, i realize it will actually be me working these things out, but it also means that i am not going to let them get in my way.  if i have to work extra, i will work extra.  while it is not always healthy to say yes to everything, sometimes you have to sacrifice minor setbacks for long term gains.

life is a one time opportunity.

don’t hold yourself back.
